Outpatient and Inpatient Treatment
The clinic is structured into an inpatient area and a polyclinic. We treat approximately 2,100 inpatients and approx. 900 outpatients annually.
The inpatient area encompasses Ward G3, the Intensive Care Unit H3A, the Paediatric Ward G9 and the Private Patients' Ward I21, as well as the Anaesthesiological Intensive Care Unit in the Cardiology Clinic at the Augustinum. The H.E.L.P. Ward (for haemodialysis) on the 12th floor also forms part of the Clinic.
The Clinic of Cardiac Surgery is on stand-by 24 hours a day for surgery on adults and will admit emergencies involving paediatric cardiac surgery around the clock. In Grosshadern, the clinic has three operating theatres at its disposal. Two are equipped with heart-lung machines; one operating theatre is a so-called hybrid operating theatre.
The Polyclinic for Cardiac Surgery is home to the Outpatient Transplantation Clinic and the Outpatient Pacemaker Clinic. In the adjoining operating theatre, pacemaker and defibrillator implants are performed as well as myocardial biopsies on transplant patients. Furthermore, the polyclinic coordinates patient appointments and arranges appointments for surgery.
Two operating theatres with heart-lung machines are available in the affiliated Cardiology Clinic at the Augustinum. Postoperative care is effected by the cardiologists. The Intensive Care Unit is managed by the Anaesthesiological Institute in Grosshadern.
