"Integrated Care" Concept
With the "integrated care" concept, the Clinic of Cardiac Surgery of the Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich has implemented a sophisticated concept for its patients. The goal is the integrative cooperation of the Clinic of Cardiac Surgery with other clinics, SHI physicians in private practice (SHI = statutory health insurance) and rehabilitation facilities. The link of the individual care areas is to optimise and improve the quality of treatment.
Health insurance companies are given the opportunity to offer their policy holders coordinated care, in which family physicians and specialists, medical and non-medical service providers, outpatient and inpatient area and, where necessary, pharmacies cooperate in a coordinated manner.
The cooperation is not only meant to prevent expensive double examinations but is intended to increase the quality of the treatments and provide helpful support to patients.
