Indications
In childhood, a fundamental distinction is made between congenital and acquired heart and heart/lung diseases when heart and heart-lung transplantation is indicated.
The acquired heart diseases include:
- Cardiomyopathies
- Life-threatening arrhythmias
- Benign cardiac tumours
- Secondary pulmonary hypertension
The congenital heart diseases include:
- Defects without further operative options
- Myocardial pump failure
- Primary pulmonary hypertension
